CERAMIC COATINGS / CLEAR BRA

FREQENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQS

  • What is a Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coatings are flexible glass layers that are applied to the exterior of your vehicle to provide long-term protection from UV exposure, corrosion, staining, scratch resistance, etc. to a wide variety of surface types. They also provide self-cleaning properties to your vehicle’s surface and can add extra gloss to the finish.

  • What on my car can be Ceramic Coated?

With today’s ceramic coating technology, we can practically coat any part of your car. Painted Surfaces - Plastics - Glass - Vinyl Wraps - Convertible Tops - Wheels - Interior

  • How protected is a vehicle with a Ceramic Coating?

This generally depends on the brand of coating, how many layers you have applied and how well it’s maintained. While coatings won’t keep your paint safe from collisions and rocks, you will still see serious protection from swirls, light scratches, UV fading, corrosion, staining, bird poop etching and more.

  • I want to keep my car protected from rock chips and nicks. Can Ceramic Coatings do that?

No, ceramic coatings by themselves in a standard application do not provide thick enough layers to prevent that level of gouging, but it is still thick enough to be very scratch and mar resistant. Now, if you are looking to achieve protection against rock chips and nicks, we do also install what is called Paint Protection Film or Clear Bra. This is a clear film that is installed before/underneath the ceramic coating and will protect against rocks and nicks if they should break through the layers of ceramic coating. This film can be applied on just the front end or the whole entire vehicle.

  • How are Ceramic Coatings applied?

Ceramic coatings start as liquids that are applied by hand, one panel at a time and cure to a flexible glass. Prior to application, surfaces must be fully decontaminated, paint corrected and carefully inspected. It’s very important that every step is done correctly to ensure a strong bond between the paintwork and the layered coating applications, to improve the coating’s longevity and to get the best finished appearance possible. It takes time to install and cure any protective coating, but the wait is well worth it!

  • Can I install a Ceramic Coating myself?

No, while there are many DIY style coatings on the market, they are not true or of the same quality as the ceramic coatings only certified installers provide.

  • How do Ceramic Coatings compare to that stuff they install at the dealership?

The level of protection & longevity that professionally installed ceramic coatings provide far exceeds anything that’s readily available at an auto dealership or direct to consumers. Most of what you’ll find at dealerships are short-term topical sealants, glossifiers, and petroleum distillate-based coatings that aren’t intended to offer serious protection.
